A weekend visit to Preston enabled the Boarders to get their weekly shopping fix.  The Boarders were in good spirits, having successfully performed the readings and Offetroy procession at Mass, in front of a church packed to the rafters with students and parents who had enjoyed the Poetry Banquet on the evening before.

Having refuelled with an early Sunday lunch, a coach took us all into Preston to enjoy the attractions of this North Western metropolis.  The trip proved too much for one of our Gap Students.

Mr and Mrs Smith had set a strict spending limit and the Boarders showed great imagination in their use of the funds.  By the time we reassembled for the coach back to SMH, they had showed that, even in this day and age, it's amazing what you can buy for under £5.

After supper and having written a letter home, there was a birthday party in the Boys's sitting room - we were privilged to have three birthdays to mark that day.   Still munching birthday cake, we all settled down to a video and then trooped to bed for a restorative night's sleep.
