The Boarders staged their own winter olympics as Saturday school was cancelled after a night of heavy snow. 

We awoke to a fortifying full English breakfast provided by our fabulous kitchen staff who had fought their way through the snow to work.  Many of the Boarders wisely took up the option of porridge as additional sustenance, knowing that all their resources of energy would be drawn upon that day.  

 That morning, the Ribble valley was a mangificnent picture of blue and white, reminiscent of Val d'Isere at its best.   Although powder skiing was not on the menu, the Boarders were quick to show off their snowboarding, sledging and snowballing skills at Paradise Hill.  Thankfully, Mrs Smith had arranged huge urns of hot chocolate to welcome us back after an unforgettable day.
