Regular visitors to the SMH website will be aware of previous episodes in a long-running series about the statue of St Ignatius Loyola, which had been fashioned by Sr Ginés Serrán and donated by him to SMH.  Well, here is the concluding part.   Follow the photographs to see what happened.

The statue of St Ignatius arrives at SMH after a long journey from China.

St Ignatius then waited in Reception for a while.

We needed to show how St Ignatius would look once he had been put in position, so here we have Jacob doing a brilliant demonstration.

The plinth arrives.

Mr Terry McGough, the Stonyhurst stone mason, supervises the positioning of the statue.

Nearly there!

Fr Michael Holman SJ, the Jesuit Provincial, said a few words before blessing our new statue.

Then Fr. Holman blessed the statue of St. Ignatius.

Here we see Fr Adrian Howell SJ, Paco Serrān, Mr Larry Crouch, Fr Michael Holman and Sr Ginčs Serrān the world famous sculptor who created our statue.

Sr Serrān and his son Paco, who was at SMH for two years.

The earlier parts of the story can be seen on this News Page.
