Bridge breaking at SMH or an exercise in controlled vandalism!
Students at S.M.H. have enjoyed an unusual interruption during singing practice during the past two weeks. Students from the College brought down a delicate 300g bridge which they had made from 4mm pine wood. With the bridge suspended from two large blocks on the stage, weights were added until it broke. Surprising everyone in the theatre, this needed two weeks as extra weights had to be found with Mrs Vicky Carter of Lee-Carter in Clitheroe very kindly lending the school the necessary masses! The bridge finally collapsed when it was supporting an enormous 125Kg surprising staff and students alike. It is hoped that Ruds students coming up to the College will design and build their own bridges and see if they can match the above achievement.
