St Mary’s Hall is a Roman Catholic school in the Jesuit Tradition providing co-education for boarders and day pupils between the ages of 3-13 and offering a warm welcome to Christians of other denominations. As a result of its close ties with Stonyhurst College, which was founded in 1593 and is one of the oldest Jesuit colleges in the world, St Mary’s Hall is part of a stimulating and well-proven educational tradition. Set in the beautiful Stonyhurst estate in rural Lancashire, the school has outstanding facilities for teaching, sports and cultural activities.
Our boarding pupils come to us from all over the country and from many parts of the world. Day pupils are fully integrated into the life of the school and enjoy the considerable benefits of sharing their lives with boys and girls from a wide range of backgrounds. Education at St Mary’s Hall is based on the ideals of St Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus, known throughout the world as Jesuits. In particular we aim to develop a strong sense of family and Christian community; to pursue excellence in all areas of school life; and to ensure the development of the whole person.
