Our boarders got a real taste of bonfire night when we all headed up to Clitheroe Castle for the public firework display on a rainy November 5th evening.

For some of our international boarders this was their first experience of a very English tradition.   However, we had all been given a thorough grounding in the historical background, as the night before had seen us trotting over to the College to watch a fantastic History Society production, which presented the events leading up to the Gunpowder Plot in a very funny and accessible show.

Historical background aside, the boarders also quickly got into the flavour of the night by enthusiastically taking up the tradition of toffee apples and hot drinks.  The fireworks themselves were magnificent and everyone was fully into the spirit of the night by the time the last huge rocket exploded at around 8.30pm.  Even the rain let up for an hour or so during the display and we went home just as you should after a bonfire night:  flushed and happy!
