The New Entrance at SMH
The new entrance at SMH is now complete and has been in action for a few weeks now. The history of this area of the school is interesting and there have been many changes over the years. The Centenaries Theatre, built to commemorate four centuries as a school (1593 - 1993) and two centuries at Stonyhurst (1794 - 1994), was opened in 1993. The Old Theatre has been a theatre for much of its existence, though at one time it did serve as the Philosophers' Laboratories. It is now the Tolkein Library. The photographs show the progress of the building work and the birth of the impressive new arrangements.
