The Statue of the Sacred Heart returns to SMH
The statue of the Sacred Heart has been returned to its position at the head of the SMH lawn after a full restoration. Until recently, it was in a very poor state of repair after decades at the mercy of the Lancashire weather; in fact, a very severe frost had caused the statue to crack through the middle. The Stonyhurst stone mason, Mr Terry McGough, came to the rescue and, after many months of expert and painstaking work, restored the statue to its former glory. We are delighted to see the statue back in its place and I think you will agree that it looks very striking.
