The SMH Chamber Choir head for London.
Miss Rosanne Allen, Head of Music at SMH writes:
The SMH Chamber Choir recently sang at the IAPS Songfest in London. We travelled down by coach and stayed at Southwell House.
There we had dinner and then there were activities, including outdoor netball by torchlight (!). The following morning, we travelled to St. Paul's School on Monday 21st and joined with choirs from other prep schools. Of the 15 other schools, we travelled the farthest to be there!
We began with a mixture of warm ups, with games, vocal exercises, vocal gymnastics and rhythm exercises. Even the teachers joined in.

| Time for the Directors of Music at The College and SMH to get some work done in the kitchen. It appears that somebody has been put on rations ... one sausage? |
We learnt a plethora of new songs during the day, some commissioned and composed especially for the event; it was great to see that the composer was there, too. During our breaks, we adopted a variety of ways to maximise intake of fresh air and activity.
 |
| Time for a burst of activity. |
The day finished with a concert including many of the songs learnt and also individual school performances. We sang 'There's Me' .
 |
| YUM! |
 |
| More activity. |
 |
| And now for the concert. |
Without doubt, we really were the best Prep School Choir there...but that's Mr Mann’s and my biased opinion. But it's true too! Dr June especially congratulated the choir on their performance. The SMH Chamber Choir were a pleasure to be with, and their super behaviour and fantastic singing made the journey well worthwhile. Looking forward to the next trip!
