SMH at Fromelles
SMH have been given the great honour of designing 10 of the 30 panels which will surround the construction site at Fromelles in France. There has been lots of media coverage since the discovery last year of the mass grave of British and Australian soldiers from the Great War. The remaining panels are to be designed by France and Australia. The project came about when the Commonwealth War Graves Commission approached Paul Garlington, Head of History at SMH, and asked if we could submit designs. Under the expert guidance of Mrs Jacqueline Hines, Head of Art, all the children in Figures (Year 7) set to work and produced a magnificent design. The panels will surround the cemetery construction site and will then become a permanent display in the visitors' centre. For further details, please visit the CWGC website at www.cwgc.org/fromelles
